WordPress 2.5 – long awaited, delayed, but still probably the best and most popular Open Source Blogging platform, designed by Happy Cog and built by Automattic, has been released. Download, install it on your server, and enjoy.

I had tried a few different options including Google Blogger and Microsoft spaces before making the final decision to adopt WordPress as my blogging platform. WordPress is simply design better… no shadow of a doubt…. easy to use, is open source, and has a really wide set of features. If you want to get up and running with a wordpress blog of your own really quickly, you can sign up at: http://wordpress.com/. It literally just takes a few minutes to get up and running.

After 6 months development based on user feedback, the improvements in WordPress 2.5 are numerous, including: multi-file uploading, one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard, salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG from TinyMCE that doesn’t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection, full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages.
